I dont normally like to use the Blog site to self promote but it has become apparent that their are many many SEO companies out in the wild who dont hold themselves accountable for their actions.
What do I mean by this? Well quite simply does your SEO company have an interest in what they have done positively and perhaps negatively to your site? At TopRankings we send our clients a monthly report, this monthly report shows the client what the current rankings are within the chosen search engines for their keywords. Furthemore clients have the opportunity to logon to their client portal where not only can they see the latest report but can see the initial rankings report of their website before we took over their SEO campaign. This makes our process very transparent to our clients and can clearly see if the SEO tactics we have employed are thus benefiting their rankings.
This report opens us up for critiscim as sometimes rankings do drop but rest assured our highly experienced SEO engineers also have access to these reports and thus concentrate their work on targeting those keywords that may of dropped.
Without these reports we as an SEO company and you as a client are shooting in the dark.
Now is the time to hold your SEO accountable. If you aint getting monthly reports dont think you should be?

Apologies for the lack of blog entries lately but we at TopRankings have been busy on a recruitment drive, I am proud to say we now will have another 2 members of staff joining us shortly.
Okay so that is the admin stuff out of the way!
I was trying to decide on a blog topic when I received an alert about a blog entry being made by a rival SEO company that stipulated that one of the best way to outrank your competitors is to increase the amount of content on your site. Historically with our clients sites I have proven this NOT to be the case, if this was the case how could we outrank a small finance company over Australias leading banks? How could we make a boutique window blind manufacturer outrank the big window blind companies (ie Kresta, Victory etc).
It is far more effective to have quality words within your website rather than quantity. Adding bloat to your site can in fact penalise your site.
Search engines want to know which sites are more relevant to the searched keywords; they do this by checking for keyword relevance not keyword quantity.

You may of seen the newest search engine from Microsoft which was showcased over the last few days and is set to go live mid next week. If you havent the search engine is Bing. To learn more about Bing click here.
Bling is a new style of search engine, instead of answering simple questions eg What is the highest mountain in the world? you can simply ask it phrases like traffic, restuarant etc, the results are generated are traffic conditions within your proximity or recommended restaurants in your vicinity. Bing is very clever in the way it approaches search. Say for example you want to book a trip from Melbourne to Sydney, Bing will go out and search all the airlines and travel portals and will display you a summary of the prices, but that is just the beginning it will also predict the likely fare movement either up / down for the short term based on historical trends. This greatly alleviates the need for you to guess if now is the time to book, furthermore once you get to Sydney you will also need a hotel, well it also neatly presents to you an array of hotels that are recommended in Sydney. Bing tightly intergrates with Microsoft Live Search Maps, so not only will you be able to see where the hotel is located you also get the opportunity to do a 3d flyover off the hotel, pretty neat we think.
Their are so many features of Bing you will be impressed with and while Google is a prominent player in Search we cant help feeling that Bing will gain some valuable market share from Google.
TopRankings was fortunate enough to preview Bing at last years PubCon conference in Vegas, at this conference the head of Microsoft Search was previewing Bing (wasnt called Bing then) and all 2000+ people in the room were very excited about what Microsoft have achieved. With our exposure to Bing we are more than confident in delivering our clients high rankings within this search engine as well.
PubCon is a great opportunity for SEO companies to really see what is happening at the major search engines, and TopRankings has no hesitation sending its staff to Vegas every year, afterall our knowledge only helps our clients, and afterall that is what we are here for.
