Onsite vs Offsite SEO
filed in Search Engine Optimisation on Oct.31, 2008
For a succesfull SEO campaign there are 2 main elements to ensure your sites success in its rankings. The 2 elements are Onsite and Offsite optimisation, so exactly what are they and what should you target first.
Lets first differentiate the difference between onsite and offsite. Onsite optimisation is the actual words/structure of your website while offsite optimisation is about external links to your sites.
I always make sure that my onsite optimisation is finished 1st before I start my offsite optimisation. Onsite optimisation is like a shop where offsite optimisation is more about the advertisment for the shop. Why would you have an ad for your shop if your shop isnt open or doesnt have stock? A website is exactly the same, you should make sure your site has the right content, correct keywords, error free HTML etc. Once you are happy with your site you then can begin your offsite optimisation.
Offsite optimisation is getting external links to your site but when sourcing links make sure they are somewhat related to your website. These external links can be a combination of directory, articles, forums, blogs, bookmarks or even other related websites.
In future blogs we will discuss how you can source these external links. Until then have a great weekend and I look forward to be reporting to you from Vegas in a couple of weeks
